About the Panelists
Patrick Oot, Esq. is an experienced corporate attorney and co-founder of The Electronic Discovery Institute, a non-profit
organization dedicated to resolving litigation challenges by conducting studies of litigation processes for the benefit of the
federal and state judiciary.
Mr. Oot is also known for his former role as Director of Electronic Discovery and Senior Counsel at Verizon in Washington, DC. He
has extensive experience in discovery practices involving commercial litigation, regulatory filings, and antitrust matters.
Mr. Oot was charged with advising Verizon’s business units on electronic discovery while developing new technologies that increased
cost-efficiency. In 2006, Mr. Oot was nominated for the Verizon Excellence Award after playing a key role in the successful completion
of Verizon’s response to the Department of Justice’s Second Request for Documents in its acquisition of MCI. As a result of his work,
Inside Counsel magazine named Verizon’s e-discovery team as one of the ten most innovative legal groups of 2007, the group’s second
year winning the title.
Anne Kershaw, Esq. is an experienced litigator and the founder of A. Kershaw, P.C. // Attorneys & Consultants, a nationally
recognized litigation management consulting firm providing independent analysis and innovative recommendations for the management of all
aspects of volume litigation challenges.
Ms. Kershaw has been involved with high tech litigation management since 1993, taking management roles on national coordinating and trial
counsel teams defending volume, multi-state, product liability claims. Ms. Kershaw consults in complex and individual cases on electronic
data discovery strategy and FRCP 30(b)(6) technology and corporate policy depositions. Ms. Kershaw also maintains ongoing involvement in
federal and state civil rules reform to address electronic discovery and litigation fairness issues, providing litigation survey data and
testimony before the Federal Civil Rules Advisory Committee.
Michael Geske, Esq. currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Aphelion Legal Solutions. Mr. Geske has 17 years of experience as a litigator, most recently as counsel at Arnold & Porter LLP, an international law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. His depth of experience includes all phases of complex civil litigation, including federal bench and jury trials and appeals of antitrust and products liability claims, federal and state securities regulation, statutory consumer protection matters, and defense of regulatory and administrative inquiries, including federal H.S.R. pre-merger reviews.
Mr. Geske’s practice has centered on high profile, discovery intensive litigation matters that were likely to be tried or adjudicated against Fortune 100 companies. As a result, he has broad experience in staffing, training and supervising large teams of contract, staff and associate attorneys so that each team’s work advances the client’s trial defense or other legal interests. Mr. Geske’s experience managing multiple outsourced document reviews and his first-hand knowledge of how the quality and substantive results of that work profoundly influence a firm’s representation of its clients significantly contributes to the high level of service Aphelion provides.
